한국 전통 색동 문양을 현대 공간 설치로 재해석… 1월 30일~2월 11일

시카고한인문화원 갤러리는 초대작가전으로 김윤 덕성여자대학교 의상디자인전공 교수의 개인전 ‘색동 레이어스’(Saekdong Layers–A Field of Suspended Color)를 1월 30일(금)부터 2월 11일(수)까지 개최한다.
이번 전시는 전통적으로 한국의 의복과 의례용 물품에 사용돼 온 색동 문양을 현대적인 공간 설치 작품으로 재해석한 작업들로 구성됐다.
전시장에는 다수의 스카프가 연속적으로 매달려 색의 흐름을 따라 형성된 통로를 이루며, 관람객은 작품 사이를 직접 걸으며 색동이 겹겹이 쌓인 공간을 입체적으로 체험할 수 있다.
작품은 색과 섬유, 움직임을 결합한 설치 형식을 통해 전통 문양이 지닌 상징성과 시각적 리듬을 현대적 감각으로 풀어낸 것이 특징이다. 관람객은 단순한 감상이 아닌, 공간 속을 이동하며 색동의 층위와 깊이를 몸으로 경험하게 된다.
전시와 함께 리셉션 행사는 1월 31일(토) 오후 2시 시카고한인문화원 갤러리에서 열린다. 리셉션에서는 다과가 제공되며, 작가가 직접 작품과 전시에 대한 이야기를 나누는 시간이 마련될 예정이다.

The Korean Cultural Center of Chicago Gallery presents Saekdong Layers, a solo exhibition by Yoon Kim, Professor of Fashion Design at Duksung Women’s University, from January 30 to February 11, 2026.
The exhibition reinterprets saekdong, traditional Korean multicolored stripes historically used in garments and ceremonial objects, through contemporary spatial installations. Rows of suspended scarves form flowing pathways of color, inviting visitors to walk through the artwork and experience layered colors in an immersive environment.
An opening reception will be held on January 31 at 2 p.m. at the KCCoC Gallery, featuring light refreshments and an artist talk.
