응모작 58점 중 6작품 선정…오후 4시 ‘줌 시상식’

민주평화통일자문위원회 시카고협의회(회장 유경란. 이하 시카고평통)가 이달 26일(일) ‘평화통일 문예공모전’ 시상식을 연다. 이날 오후 4시 온라인 화상회의 솔루션 ‘줌’(Zoom)을 통해 참여할 수 있다.
이번 공모전은 어린이와 청소년이 글과 그림을 통해 평화와 통일의 마음을 품고 이를 키워갈 수 있도록 하자는 취지로 마련됐다. 시카고평통을 포함해 20여 미주지역 평통협의회가 함께 ▲한반도의 평화적 통일 ▲2032년 남북 공동 올림픽 유치를 주제로 온라인 문예 공모전을 열었다.
시카고평통에 따르면, 지난 5월 18일부터 이달 11일까지 응모한 총 58점 중 가장 우수한 6 작품을 선정해 이번에 시상식을 가진다.
1등 영예는 미주리 주에 사는 배주니 학생의 ‘남북통일의 길 닦기’(Building the Road to Korean Reunification) 작품에 돌아갔다. 2등은 배노아·손유빈 학생의 ‘2032 서울-평양 공동올림픽’과 ‘피스 인 워킹’(Peace in Walking)을 주제로 한 그림과 글, 3등은 임승현·이마리벨·정희주 학생의 글 1 작품과 그림 2 작품이 차지했다. 출품작은 시카고평통 이벤트 사이트(www.nuac-chicago.org)에 게시할 예정이다.
당선작 중 최고 득점 두 작품은 대통령상을 두고 겨루는 미주 본선에 진출한다. 아울러 행사에 참여한 모든 출품자에게는 ‘참가인증서’(Certificate of Participation)와 함께 소정의 상품권이 제공된다.
심사에 참여한 오봉완 평통위원(전 조지타운대 교수)은 “이번 행사는 한반도 ‘평화통일’에 생소한 세대에 생각의 씨앗을 심는 귀한 기회를 제공했다”고 평가했다.
유경란 회장은 “코로나 사태로 위축된 상황에도 정성어린 작품들이 많이 출품돼 평통위원들이 힘을 얻었다”며 “차세대에 평화와 통일의 마음을 심어주기 위한 이 행사를 계기로 아이들이 한반도 평화통일에 더 큰 관심과 비전을 가질 수 있도록 더욱 노력할 것”이라고 말했다.

National Unification Advisory Council Chicago Chapter(Chairman Yoo Kyung-ran, NUAC Chicago chapter) will hold the ‘Online Literature & Art Contest for the Peaceful Unification of the Korean Peninsula’ on the 26th of this month. You can participate through ‘Zoom’, an online video conferencing solution at 4 pm on the day.
This competition was prepared with the intention of allowing children and youth to develop peace and Peaceful Unification of the Korean Peninsula
through writing and painting. More than 20 NUAC , including NUAC Chicago chapter, held an online literary contest on the theme of attracting the South-North Joint Olympics in 2032.
According to NUAC Chicago chapter, the awards ceremony will be held by selecting the best 6 works out of a total of 58 entries submitted from May 18th to the 11th of this month.
The first place honor was returned to the work of ‘Building the Road to Korean Reunification’ by Bae Joo-ni of Missouri. The second place is a picture and text on the theme of ‘2032 Seoul-Pyongyang Joint Olympics’ and ‘Peace in Walking’ by students of Noah Son and Yoobin Son, and the third place is a work by Im Seung-hyun, Lee Maribel, and Hee-joo Jung.
The two best-scored works will advance to the US finals for the presidential award. In addition, all exhibitors who participated in the event are given a certain gift certificate along with a ‘Certificate of Participation’.
“This event provided a valuable opportunity to plant seeds of thought for unfamiliar generations in the “peaceful unification of the Korean Peninsula,” said Bonnie Oh, a member of Pyeongtong (former Professor Georgetown University) who participated in the screening.
Chairman Yoo Kyung-ran said, “Even though the situation was reduced due to the corona crisis, many deliberate works were exhibited, and the commissioners gained strength. We will do our best to have great interest and vision.”
